Gears for Robotics Applications

Compact precision gears and planetary gear sets for robot joints and actuators, with small modules, low backlash and ground gear accuracy of DIN 5 or higher.

Gears for Robotics Applications

PinyiGear produces small-module, tightly packaged gears for robot joints and actuators, machined to customer drawings. Small-module capability extends to modules below M0.5, including non-standard modules from M0.3, and ground gear accuracy reaches DIN 5 or higher.

Gear Types and Size Ranges

  • Non-standard module gears: Module M0.3~M20, accuracy to customer requirements (GB 3~9)
  • Special tooth profiles: Cycloidal, circular arc and other profiles, machined to drawings
  • Gear shafts / spline shafts: Maximum length ≤1000mm, splines to GB/T 3478 or DIN 5480

See the product pages for further detail: Custom Gears, Shafts and Splines.

Materials and Heat Treatment

For small-module joint parts, 20CrMnTi carburising and quenching is a common choice: tooth flanks reach 58~62 HRC and case depth is inspected to GB/T 9450. Where distortion is a concern, 38CrMoAl nitriding is an alternative, giving 900~1100 HV with case depth 0.1~0.6mm. Gear grinding leaves roughness at Ra 0.2~0.4 µm.

Operating Conditions to Account For

  • Joint spaces are small and gear structures compact, frequently integrated with bearings and planet carriers.
  • Backlash has a direct effect on positioning accuracy, so tooth thickness and centre distance need to be controlled as a pair.
  • Frequent motion places demands on noise and smooth running.

Information Needed for a Quote

To prepare a quotation, it is recommended to supply the assembly drawing of the complete joint structure. This should indicate number of teeth, module, centre distance and fit tolerances, together with backlash requirements. Drawings can be sent to sales@dgpinyi.com.
